Papers
Upload and review guidelines
Short rules that keep Science Official Papers useful and trustworthy.
What you can upload
- Scholarly work: journal articles, preprints, conference papers, theses, technical reports and book chapters.
- Work you wrote or co-wrote, or have the right to share. List all authors in the order of the paper.
- A text PDF up to 30 MB. Google Scholar indexes PDFs up to 5 MB, so smaller is better.
What we remove
- Texts that are not research: advertising, news, essays without a scholarly method, spam.
- Plagiarism, fabricated data, or papers uploaded without the authors’ consent.
- Published versions that the publisher does not allow you to share. Upload the preprint or accepted manuscript instead, or share the abstract only.
- Content that is illegal, hateful, or that endangers people.
Copyright
You keep the copyright of your work. By uploading, you allow Science Official to store the file, show its page and, if you choose, let readers download it. You can pick an open licence such as CC BY 4.0. You can delete your paper at any time.
Reviews
- Review the science, not the person. Be specific: what is convincing, what is missing, what would change your mind.
- Declare nothing you cannot stand behind: your name is on the review.
- Do not review work where you have a conflict of interest, even if the system does not catch it.
Retractions and corrections
We check DOIs against Crossref, which includes the Retraction Watch database. Retracted papers stay visible with a clear notice.
Complaints
To report a paper or a review — for example, a copyright claim — use Help & support. We answer within a working day and tell you what we decided and why.
