SpaceX is preparing for the next test flight of its Starship vehicle, which could come as soon as the end of this month and would include another attempt to catch the returning Super Heavy booster using the launch tower's mechanical arms. Elon Musk said the company is aiming to launch the next Starship before the month is out and to repeat the catch maneuver during the same flight.

SpaceX also plans to use the flight to begin deploying upgraded Starlink satellites into orbit. The mission would represent the first time a Starship upper stage releases satellites rather than simply flying a test trajectory, marking a transition from experimental flights toward operational use of the vehicle.

During the earnings call, Musk described the end-of-month launch target and highlighted the booster catch as one of the company's near-term priorities. Catching the booster on the pad is part of SpaceX's plan to make Starship fully reusable by avoiding the cost and complexity of building a new booster for every launch.

Starship is the centerpiece of SpaceX's long-term launch architecture. The vehicle combines a Super Heavy first stage with a spacecraft upper stage, and both elements are designed to be flown repeatedly. The launch tower is equipped with arms that can grab the booster as it comes back to the pad, allowing the rocket to be inspected, refurbished, and prepared for another mission.

The upcoming flight would test not only the booster recovery system but also the upper stage's ability to open its payload bay and deploy satellites in orbit. If the mission succeeds, Starship would take a significant step toward becoming a workhorse for the Starlink constellation, which SpaceX has been expanding with regular Falcon 9 launches.

The upgraded Starlink satellites are part of the next phase of the broadband network. They are designed to be larger and higher-capacity than the current generation, and SpaceX has said Starship's payload capacity will allow it to deploy them more efficiently. A successful deployment flight would give the company a new way to build out the constellation while continuing to develop Starship's payload operations.

Launch timing may still shift before the end of the month. SpaceX has not announced a specific date, and the company typically completes final checks before confirming a target. The flight would continue a rapid series of Starship tests as SpaceX moves from experimental prototypes toward operational missions.
